CANOEING INN TO INN ON THE POCOMOKE RIVER
Maryland’s Eastern Shore Bald Cypress tidal river gently winds through miles of beautiful woodland, farms and estates. Canoeing inn to inn is a unique way to experience one of Delmarva’s natural wonders.
Only a few hours from Metropolitan centers lies the quiet and beautiful sun-dappled world of the Upper Pocomoke,. Maryland’s first designated Scenic River.
Days are spent paddling gently through an ever-changing vista- from bowers of green overhanging the banks to broad sweeps and bends typical of the rivers of the South- providing opportunities for viewing wildlife not to bee seen from the shore. Nights are easy on the body and mind, with fine inns providing Eastern Shore hospitality and good food.
There are Standard Tours, and custom flexibility. Trips are available spring, summer and fall. Guides are available of an additional fee. You are put in each day at one of the many launching sites on the Pocomoke, based on the length of your daily paddle. You will see, historic homes, farms, stands of cypress, and abundant wildlife. Picnic on quiet riverbanks, or in riverside parks. In the afternoon, at a time of your choosing, you will be picked up and transported to a charming country inn where your luggage will be waiting. Chat with your hosts, enjoy dinner, a quiet night and then next morning a bountiful breakfast before you leave for another day. At the end of the trip you and your luggage will be returned to your car for your journey home. |
